Who we are

Price Lens is a free Chrome extension that helps shoppers find better prices on Amazon and other major retailers. It is operated independently and funded entirely through affiliate commissions.

What data we collect

Personal information: none. Price Lens does not collect your name, email address, location, payment information, or any other personal data. No account is required to use the extension.

The extension uses Chrome's local and sync storage APIs to save the following on your device:

• Watchlist — products you have chosen to watch (ASIN, title, price, image URL). Stored locally on your device only.
• Settings — your preferences such as whether the toolbar is shown on page. Stored in Chrome sync storage so your settings persist across devices if you use Chrome sync.
• Usage stats — a local count of how many pages have been tagged since install. This number never leaves your device.
• Reminders — products you asked to be reminded about, stored as Chrome alarms on your device.

None of this data is transmitted to any server we operate. We have no server that receives or stores user data.

Affiliate tracking

Price Lens adds an affiliate tracking tag to Amazon product URLs as you browse. This tag is processed by Amazon and other retailers to attribute purchases for commission purposes. It does not identify you personally — it identifies Price Lens as the referrer. Your price is identical whether or not the tag is present.

We participate in the following affiliate programs:

• Amazon Associates Program
• Walmart Affiliate Program (via Impact)
• eBay Partner Network
• Target Affiliate Program (via Impact)
• Best Buy Affiliate Program

Each of these programs has its own privacy policy governing how retailers handle your purchase data. Price Lens does not receive or store any information about your purchases.

Third-party services

Price Lens displays price history charts embedded from CamelCamelCamel (camelcamelcamel.com). When a price history chart loads, your browser makes a request to CamelCamelCamel's servers. This is subject to their privacy policy, available at camelcamelcamel.com.

No other third-party analytics, tracking scripts, or advertising SDKs are present in Price Lens.

Permissions

Price Lens requests the following Chrome permissions:

• declarativeNetRequest — to add affiliate tags to URLs at the network layer without reading page content.
• storage — to save your watchlist and settings on your device.
• notifications — to alert you when a watched price drops or a reminder fires.
• tabs — to open pages (such as CamelCamelCamel) when you click a button in the extension.
• alarms — to fire reminders you set through the extension.
• Host permissions for retailer domains — to inject the Price Lens toolbar on product pages and tag links.

Data retention and deletion

All data Price Lens stores lives in Chrome's storage on your device. You can clear it at any time by:

• Removing the extension from Chrome, which deletes all local storage immediately.
• Using Chrome's built-in "Clear browsing data" feature to clear extension storage.

We cannot delete data on your behalf because we do not hold any.

Children's privacy

Price Lens is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Price Lens after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
